To Ride A Silver Broomstick

“To Ride A Silver Broomstick: New Generation Witchcraft”  Silver RavenWolf

Summon.  Scry.  Spin, spiral, and sweep.  Learn how to bend time, draw down the moon’s energy, and use mirror magick.  Whether novice or adept, a Witch’s world is filled with wonder and magick.  It’s also filled with the hard work and dedication to learning that are part of living the Craft every day. (Amazon)

Love her or hate her, Silver RavenWolf is here to stay… and continues to write bestsellers.  And oh, reading the reviews on Amazon are always amusing.  For what its worth, I think Silver RavenWolf is a useful component to modern Wicca, drawing in teenagers and adults alike with her blunt and informal style.  Even though I really do not like her motherly approach, insisting we all call her ‘Mama Silver’, while ranting about the annoying things adults do.

I find her books a bit too biased, unfocused, and weak in content.  But what she does present is interesting and there are some useful bits thrown in there.  I found her section on Record Keeping and what to put in your Book of Shadows very useful.  And there are many helpful references throughout the book, if you can weed through the other stuff (but to be honest, I’m just not sure how much I ‘trust’ her authority, say, compared to Cunningham or Buckland).  I would recommend that all seekers read everything they can get their hands on when researching Wicca and paganism, and I would include this book in the list.
