Druid Animal Oracle – Swan

I have started drawing Druid Animal Oracle cards again.  Yesterday I drew the Swan (Eala), which represents Soul, Love and Beauty.

The Swan brings us the qualities of the soul – of love and depth, grace and beauty.  Since the swan is associated with Samhain, it represents that part of us which can travel into the Otherworld.  Drawing this card might indicate you will receive inspiration from the Otherworld, or that love is entering into your life.

The Swan has a place in many ancient stories, including the children of Lir of the Tuatha de Danaan, the White Swans of the Wilderness, the story of Oenghus/Aengus, the god of love, and Caer Ibormeith, as well as the stories of the Ulster hero Cú Chulainn.

The Swan’s graceful charm also connects it to the Goddess, whose qualities of beauty and femininity often are used to describe this magical bird.
